01 · The story

Words build nations

Born in Accra, Ghana, I am Theophilus Atuahene Adu, known in the creative space as IyamAtuahene. I come from a legacy of resilience, raised in a culture where stories were passed down through rhythm, wisdom and firelight.

With a background in public relations and an MBA in marketing, my journey weaves through strategic communication, community engagement and the transformative power of art. I am the Managing Partner of Ehalakasa, Ghana’s premier spoken word and slam poetry collective, and I serve as the Board Member in charge of Communications and Marketing for the World Poetry Slam Organization.

My life’s work bridges poetry, advocacy and purpose. I have led Ghana to global recognition at the World Poetry Slam Championships, reaching the semifinals in Brazil in 2023, placing fifth in Togo in 2024, and clinching the world title in Mexico in 2025.

But titles don’t define me. Impact does.

From empowering young poets to crafting global strategies, from grassroots events to international stages, my mission is clear: to use words, platforms and purpose to transform lives.

03 · What I stand for

Three commitments

01

Community-driven creativity

Poetry as a tool for education and equity. Whether mentoring young poets or curating stages for underrepresented voices, I use spoken word to amplify truth, build identity and drive social justice, from Accra to the world.

02

Strategic impact

Merging communication with cause. With an MBA in marketing and a career rooted in public relations, I translate big ideas into systems that work: campaigns, brands and movements that are measurable, purposeful and lasting.

03

Legacy-minded leadership

Building platforms that outlive the moment. From co-leading Ehalakasa to structuring global initiatives with the World Poetry Slam Organization, I build institutions, opportunities and frameworks that empower the next generation.
